If you are looking for a quiet getaway place that is not too far from the city then Lake of Jays is for you. Located 20 minutes South of Parry Sound, Lake of Jays is 44 acres of wilderness bordered on three sides by crown land. The property boasts a private, spring-fed, inland lake and all kinds of wildlife. Lake of Jays is a tributary of Burnt Lake and is only 10-15 minutes from Lake Saint Joseph, MacTier, Bala and the Parry Sound Airport.
The cottage at Lake of Jays might be off the grid, but that does not mean you sacrifice anything!!! Power is provided by a solar system, we regularly use it to have movie nights. All of the other creature comforts are there as well, including a full kitchen and bathroom, hot water, and starting in the spring of 2008, a screened in deck with a view out over the lake and a new floating dock. There are two bedrooms and the common area also converts to sleeping quarters and the cottage can sleep 4-8 comfortably.
The lake is usually quite warm for pleasant swimming and we are evaluating whether to stock it with trout this year (currently it is full of a smallmouth and rock bass and it did not get fished much last summer).
Lake of Jays is available for weekly rental from June through October, the weekly rate is $1200.
